The Wrong Reasons to Not Buy Replica Bags (Must Read)

A Chinese worker at a factory in Prato, Italy.

Dear blog readers,

There are certain reoccurring reasons that people state prevent them from buying replica bags. Some authentic purists often even get offended when they hear other people may mix in a fake or two into their collection, but they begin to spurn a list of criticisms, three key ones which include:

  • The bags are made factory workers in poor conditions in China (or another developing country).
  • The original brands make it with the care and love of a true artisan – that is why they deserve to be paid thousands of dollars for their art.
  • The bags support terrorists, gangs, and every other despicable organization out there.

Now don’t get me wrong. There are good reasons not to buy replicas of certain bags. For example there are certain bags I like to buy authentic because the embroidery or handwork is not something that I have seen eloquently created in the replica market. Or when a certain bag by a certain designer that I love is so fringe or non-popular that I know a replica manufacturer cannot get perfectly right (hence why I recommend sticking with many popular models when it comes to shopping for replica bags).

Some of my friends get duplicate fake bags of their real ones, simply because they don’t want to worry about their thousand dollar investment getting dirty or deteriorating quickly. So I definitely understand that there are situations where it is better to buy authentic, while there are other situations where there is better to buy fake.

However the key point I am trying to make here is that this air of snobbery and those oft mentioned criticism I listed above are not justified, especially after the damning New Yorker article which was released recently, which makes explicit the fact that all of our favorite designers, whether it be Gucci, Prada, or even Chanel, outsource their work to Chinese factories that are located in Europe. The article even states that many of these brands outsourced their work directly to Asia at certain points, before they realized they could not do that and simultaneously label their products “Made in Italy”.

I find the article very ironic because very so often on this blog I notice that in the comments certain individuals pop up and use luxury or designer goods as a tool to attack others, try to elevate themselves, and essentially use it as a mechanism to deem themselves superior. Examples include:

This prominent niche of people who I call orthodox authentic shoppers like to think they have a certain air of moral superiority when it comes to buying strictly authentic bags. And this is what is wrong. These are the biggest shockers I read in the article (you can read the original by clicking here) include:

1.Workers employed to make bags for top brands (e.g. Gucci) work in very poor conditions.

Based on the price tag people tend to naturally assume that the bags are made by artisans who are paid well and who treated like humans. This is wrong. The article highlights how many workers work in poor conditions where they are yelled at to meet quotas, work long hours, and sometimes are not even paid for their work (which has lead to protests against certain factors). Read this snippet from the article:

One of the employees who protested later told me that he had been paid only twelve hundred euros a month, with no benefits, to work in a freezing-cold room. He remembered working on products for companies including Ferragamo, Prada, and Dior. The crew chief, he said, “would scream at us to work faster, to get more pieces done.” (The employees were officially paid a higher salary, to comply with the law, but, according to a union representative, managers required them to withdraw their “extra” wages and give that money to the owner.)

2. Most designer products are made by Chinese workers in a town called Prato, Italy.

Factories import workers from China as well as other developing countries to work in factories in Prato which have deals with top brands to make their goods.

3. If 2 steps of the manufacturing process take place in Italy then a product can be labelled “Made in Italy”

This allows designer brands to outsource the remaining steps to countries with cheap labour in order to maximize their profits. In the ‘90s brands would make their goods from start to finish in China or Eastern European countries (where labour costs are lower than Europe) and lie to their consumers labelling their products “Made in Italy”. They stopped when they were caught.

4. It costs Gucci about $75 USD per bag.

Read this snippet to see how much it costs per average Gucci bag produced:

Arturo took me through the economics of doing work for luxury-fashion brands. He was paid a set fee for an order, no matter how long it took to complete. He generally lost money on the first bags he finished, but his workers got much faster with repetition, and the later iterations were profitable. When he was fulfilling Gucci contracts, he said, the company paid him an average of nineteen euros an hour. He showed me a bag that featured the company’s insignia fabric, with its interlocking “G”s, and said, “This fabric would cost fifteen euros a metre. But they make millions and millions of metres, so they don’t pay fifteen. Maybe ten. The leather here costs maybe fifteen to twenty euros. It’s two euros for the zipper, plus the money they pay us—that’s the cost. And they put it on the market at between ten and fifteen times that cost.”

And another:

In 2014, an Italian artisan spoke to the investigative television journalist Sabrina Giannini. Gucci had given him a big contract, he said, but the pay was so low—twenty-four euros a bag—that he had subcontracted the work to a Chinese mill, where employees worked fourteen-hour days and were paid half what he made. When the bags made it to stores, they were priced at between eight hundred and two thousand dollars.

The Bottom Line

I could go on and on and on about how this article debunks a lot of myths about authentic bags being made, but that’s unnecessary.

The key take away from this all is that there are wrong reasons not to buy replicas, and right ones. The ones discussed in this article are the wrong reasons not to buy replicas.

Another key takeaway is that as much one covets designer brands they are a business at the end of the day – i.e. a money making enterprise, and as a result we should not fetishize these brands to the point where we forget that they too can have disheartening manufacturing practices. There a big percentage of “fugazee” when it comes to luxury goods.

How To Spot A Fake Goyard And How To Choose A Great Goyard St Louis Tote Replica

The Goyard Saint Louis tote is by far the most popular Goyard bag and it comes in two sizes: PM and GM. This is a super popular bag yet I do not see it on the streets as much as I do Louis Vuitton Neverfulls due to the exclusivity of the brand: Goyard has only 29 boutiques around the world and they do not sell directly online, or even display their catalog online. This approach seems almost strange in our tech crazed world where we are used to getting what we want when we want, and usually what we want is available online.

Even with this tight approach to selling, Goyard St. Louis tote is a favorite amongst celebs and handbag lovers around the world. I think these are the bag’s strongest points: it is versatile, lightweight and extremely functional. You can use the Goyard fake St Louis tote as an everyday bag, as a shopping bag, as a traveling bag, as a diaper bag or even as a beach bag as these celebs show:

This article is dedicated towards those are either trying to buy a pre-owned Goyard and want to know how to differentiate a fake Goyard from a real Goyard, or those who want to know what key features they need to pay attention to when shopping for a replica Goyard St. Louis Tote.

How to Tell if YOUR Goyard is Fake?

1) Check the Canvas.

Learning to differentiate a fake Goyard has become more difficult now than it was previously because of a big change Goyard made in the year 2006 when they stopped hand-painting every single dot on their bags and starting using stencils instead to keep up with the large customer demand. As you may expect, many Goyard customers were not pleased with the changes and honestly who can blame them? When you buy an authentic Goyard, for which you are paying top dollar, it is fair to say you expect excellent value in exchange.

This vintage Goyard Steamer Trunk shows off the beauty of the handpainted detail that the bags used to have.

You can see how the dot work on this vintage wallet was varied since it was hand painted.

This is the Goyard bag’s modern texture which shows more uniform dotting due to the use of stencils.

If you look at the older authentic Goyard trunk or the vintage wallet above you and focus on the spots, you will notice that the print is quite different from the modern St Louis totes. The Chevron print used to be messy and imperfect which many argue was actually a good thing because it gave Goyard pieces more character and made each piece truly unique. Before Goyard switched over to stenciled dotting, the easiest way to know how to spot a fake Goyard was to check to see if the pattern was “too perfect”. As one would expect, replica manufacturers didn’t hand paint their fake Goyard totes, so the differences between Goyard bags replica and the authentic were easily noticeable. This made buying a pre-owned Goyard a lot easier, and buying a good knockoff almost impossible.

To this day controversy reigns amongst Goyard fans, many of whom are still complaining about the print being too perfect. This homogeneity makes all the Goyard St Louis totes look too much alike, and take away the charm that the hand painted vintage models had. To add salt to the wound, Goyard also started charging more for their bags even though they stopped hand-painting them which seems to make little sense since their labour costs clearly went down, so it was only natural for this question to arise: are the bags still worth it?

Well on one hand you can’t really blame Goyard. As a company they had demand and their supply was clearly not cutting it ever since their bag entered the mainstream conscious and there were many orders began coming their way. Using stencils was a faster way to make their bags, and they are a business at the end of the day. However the fact that they also increased the prices was what really irked many, myself including.

Honestly if I were to answer the question posed two paragraphs ago, I’d say that if I really wanted a Goyard I would not go for a brand new authentic. I would go for a vintage piece that was still hand painted as I believe the hand painted bags represented the true artistry of the brand. However if I were aching for a brand new bag, I’d go for a fake since there are good replicas of the bag out there. In fact I did a review on one previously which you can read by clicking here. When looking to purchase a Goyard replica these are the most important things you should look for in the canvas:

1. It should have a bumpy texture as if it were actually hand-painted: If you can’t feel the raised bumps, the bag is not a counter quality replica. It’s simply not true that all replica Goyard bags have a smooth surface because they have the pattern printed on the material. If you are buying the bag online, it’s essential to see a close-up photo of the canvas. If the seller is not willing to provide a close up shot, don’t buy it since it is probably a bad fake.
2. It should not look extremely shiny: The bag should not have a plastic-y look and feel as if it were made from cheap vinyl and cheap cotton.

2) Check the STAMP.

If you really want to learn how to tell a fake Goyard, you should also check the embossed stamp. Usually replica Goyard St Louis totes have an imperfect stamp, even if the canvas looks essentially perfect. This tip is mostly useful to those who are trying to authenticate their Goyard. To make it easier for you to visualize, here is a photo of a real and fake interior stamp:

A fake Goyard interior stamp. The font is clearly off and the logo is not stamped correctly.

An authentic Goyard interior stamp that is clean and matches the company’s logo.

You’ll notice that for most fake Goyard bags they either don’t use the right font, the letters are too close together or they are too deeply embossed into the leather.

 3) FEEL THE WEIGHT OF THE BAG.

Real Goyard St Louis totes are known for being extremely lightweight due to the materials they are constructed with which include: resin-coated canvas for the exterior and cotton/linen fabric for the interior. By lifting up the bag and checking the weight you could cut your authentication process short if you notice anything unusual. If the bag is on the heavy side, then it’s probably a fake Goyard. The only drawback with this tip is that this assessment is only possible if you already have the bag in person.

4) CHECK THE STITCHING OF THE BAG.

Pay attention to the color of the stitching of the bag. Black Goyard bags feature black stitching while ALL the other colors have white stitching. Also remember to check to see if there is a white stitch in the middle at the end of the handle tabs for all colors other than black bags which should have black stitching down the middle of the handle tabs. Of course, if the stitching is sloppy and messy that’s a dead giveaway and a sign the bag you are looking at is not only fake but a very bad fake at that.

As is important to check with all bags, make sure the stitch work is clean on the Goyard bag you are judging.

5) CHECK THE SERIAL NUMBER.

The Goyard St Louis tote comes with a detachable pouch which is something you must check and which will quickly be able to tell you if you have a fake on your hands.  There should be a serial number on the interior of the pouch for older St. Louis totes. For the newer styles, the serial number should be on the end of the leather strap that attaches the pouch to the bag. The numbers are small and discreetly embossed. If the bag you have has no serial number it is definitely a fake.

The serial number on the interior of a Goyard pouch.

The serial number on the end of the strap connecting the pouch to the bag.

6) CHECK THE HARDWARE.

The hardware is minimal on Goyard bags and wallets, but as you know every detail on the bag important if you want to learn how to tell if a Goyard bag is fake. The logo is engraved on the snap button of the detachable pouch, and the words “Goyard” and “Paris” should be visible on the interior of the metallic snap button.

Both the words “Goyard” and “Paris” are clearly visible.

FINAL THOUGHTS:

I have yet to see a replica Goyard bag that knocks every one of these requirements out of the park, however there are some that come close like this bag I previously reviewed. Overall regardless of whether you are shopping for an authentic Goyard St. Louis or a knockoff, these six characteristics are very important in order to help you recognize whether the bag is fake, and if it is fake how good or bad of a fake it is!

Classic Lady Dior Bag Replica Review

Hello everyone!

Time for round 2 of my summer hall ’17 reviews! This time I will be reviewing the Lady Dior bag I purchased. The Lady Dior bag is part of Dior’s timeless classics series, and I’m sure we can all agree that the history, structure, and look of the bag all certainly support this. Fun fact – do you know why the Lady Dior bag is called the Lady Dior bag? Well after doing some snooping I found out it was named after none other than Lady Di herself – a.k.a the late Princess of Wales, Diana. So if you are already lucky enough to own one of these bags then now you know your bag is steeped in a bit of royal history. And for those who have been coveting the bag – in other words dying to get one – it only gives you an extra reason to move it up on your wishlist!

I myself can certainly see why Princess Diana loved the bag. It has a regal essence to it and I believe it can make the least sophisticated of gals – myself included – look a little more elegant by sporting this look. As you can tell from the montage above, Princess Diana was obsessed with the bag and had the black color in every size and leather! When I decided to get the bag I naturally floated towards picking black myself – so hey I guess Lady Di and I have something in common when it comes to gravitating towards black accessories! Anyways jokes aside I decided to go for the Lady Dior in the original size in black lambskin (not the mini or the large) with gold hardware. I love the look of silver hardware on a Lady Dior too, but for some reason  felt the black really popped out against the black and I fell in love with the look. The original a.k.a authentic version of the bag retails for around $4,100 USD while I got mine for less than a 1/10 of that at about $400 USD.

I paid for a counter quality replica which means that the bag is as close to the real deal as possible – if you have been reading the blog in the past you know I don’t like to mess around with poor fakes – they are a waste of money in my opinion & I am buying the bag to last as long as the original therefore I only shop for the best. The features of this specific bag that make it counter quality include the leather quality, the hardware quality, the stitching, the interior of the bag, and the overall feel of the bag. I will go into detail about all those details below:

LEATHER QUALITY :

The leather of the bag is genuine lambskin leather and I must tell you it is uber supple. Genuine lambskin leather should have a super buttery feel and the leather on this bag gets a big pass when it comes to this criteria. The leather is very comparable to the Chanel classic flap series which should also be super butter-y. If you buy a poor fake with fake leather that would ruin the whole look of this bag as the quality of the leather will be visible from a mile away.

HARDWARE QUALITY :

Good quality hardware should be as heavy as the original. Some brands have lighter hardware while others have a heavier hardware. Dior is a brand that is in the middle when it comes to hardware heaviness. The charms are a bit heavier than the zipper and handles, but overall the there is a good weight to the hardware on this bag. The bag also has little pegs at the bottom to prevent it from getting dirty and also prevents the leather from getting scratched. I personally hate it when brands make bags with delicate leather like lambskin and do not include feet at the bottom (especially if you end up going for the real bag and spending 4 grand), but fortunately the Lady Dior is not one of those bags!

STITCHING –

The stitching quality of a bag can either make or break a replica, and the case of this Lady Dior replica it makes the bag. Each square has a 9 count stitch which is on par with the authentic. Once again making a comparison to Chanel, the stitching is something that easily gives away a fake when it comes to that brand too as you notice an overly puffy classic flap. If your replica does not have a good stitch count on par with the original you don’t need to look at any other characteristics as it is bad fake period.

INTERIOR –

My last and favorite place of a replica bag I peek at in order to judge in order to assess the quality is the interior of the bag. A counter quality bag and a mediocre bag may look similar in many regards however the interior is usually what gives the bag away as fake. Most replica manufacturers use fake leather on the interior of a bag because they are cheap and trying to maximize their dollar made. I always look for a counter quality model of a bag that has real leather or original quality fabric on the interior, and in this case the Dior’s interior is made with real leather trimmings on the interior leather zipper while the actual interior is outlined with a red logo imprinted fabric.

EXTRAS-

The bag came with a strap that can be used to wear the bag on your shoulder as opposed to simply holding it.

Overall this Lady Dior replica bag is a good example of what a good replica bag should look like and what you should look for when shopping for one if you decide to go for a replica instead of a used or authentic!

Scammer Alert: Do Not Buy Replicas From Instagram Sellers

Hello all. I received an unfortunate email from a blog reader who wishes to share her story of being scammed by purchasing through social media (Instagram in this case). I have noticed that the number of blog readers interested in Instagram replica bag sellers and quite frankly there are a lot of security flags that arise with social media that make me feel very uncomfortable with even thinking of purchasing from there. Unlike a website which has a verifiable history and record, social media accounts can pop up and disappear within moments. This means you are putting yourself at the mercy of an individual who presents themselves a certain way on a free social media platform (we all know how easy it is to set up a fake social media account) and putting your money at a very high risk. I strongly suggest you do not purchase anything through social media – whether it be an authentic bag or fake bag because there is simply not enough security or reassurance. If you come across a seller with a website linking to their profile that is a different story (and of course their website still needs to be vetted). Anyways here is the contents of the email I received warning everyone to stay away from an individual named Kiran Taha Berat (shame on him) who is stealing people’s money with no remorse:

Good afternoon. I came across the beware of scammers section and Im glad I did. I was looking for Chanel Supers and came across a man named Kiran Taha Berat from Budapest Hungary. Our communications were through WhatsApp. He had me send the money through Western Union. I’ve been waiting for months. I kept getting the run around. First it was “Oh we sold the last one and are waiting to restock”. Second was “Sorry we are no longer getting that model so heres some that we carry”. When I didnt like what was being offered they said I have to wait for the new shipment. Then I was sent photos of bags I actually liked. I made my choice and was told they’d be delivered asap. A week later I asked what day he sent it to me and disnt get a response for about 3 days. After waiting about 2 months I finally said if my order wasnt shipped by Friday that I want a full refund. The following day I was blocked on the app as well as his Instagram. Now I’m out of $1070.00. Im including screenshots and you can do what you like with them. I just wanted to warn everyone and anyone. He shouldn’t be able to rob people so easily. Now I have no idea what I should do.

Balenciaga Called Out By Ikea For Copying Their Bag Design!

The IKEA FRATKA bag is 1/2000th of the cost of the Balenciaga bag! To anyone who is actually considering buying the Balenciaga bag: please for the sake of everyone’s sanity – rethink your decision!

It’s funny when the tables turn and designer companies are seen knocking off (either purposefully or not) lesser known brands, or in this case a very famous brand – IKEA. If you have ever shopped in IKEA you have probably spotted the FRATKA bag – it is a blue tarpaulin inspired bag that can hold all the things you didn’t need (but ended up picking up anyways) at IKEA during your shopping trip. Balenciaga recently released their Arena Extra-Large Shopper Tote bag which costs $2144 USD. The bags look shockingly similar to the point where if you were to walk into IKEA with the Balenciaga bag, I guarantee it would 100% be mistaken for the FRATKA. Whether Balenciaga was “inspired” (or “replicated”) by the FRATKA bag is unknown, but I think it’s safe to say that they look identical.

Taking notice of the similarities, IKEA created a funny poster in which they guide shoppers on how to identify an original IKEA FRATKA bag. This is quite funny as we are all used to seeing the tables turned (a.k.a major designers going after other companies that knock off their designs), and quite ironic in that sense.

Of course IKEA’s message was simply in jest, and the company fired off this official statement regarding Balenciaga’s homage to their iconic bag: “We are deeply flattered that the Balenciaga tote bag resembles the Ikea iconic sustainable blue bag for 99 cents. Nothing beats the versatility of a great big blue bag!”

What do you think of Balenciaga’s purposeful (or accidental) copying of IKEA’s FRATKA bag? Should IKEA have been more stern with Balenciaga and pursued legal action? … Just kidding about that one, but it was hard not to ask ;-P … As I have mentioned before I personally think copy or no-copy the bag looks utterly hideous and I definitely cannot imagine myself spending over two grand to carry this EVER. The original IKEA FRATKA however sounds like a delightful and super useful tote (according to IKEA’s ad it can even carry water) which is worth the $0.99. Of course in cases like these we are reminded that high fashion can be ridiculous in terms of cost, and this is one of those time where it glaringly shows.  Sound off with your opinion in the comments below to let me know what you think!

Prada Esplanade Replica Bag Review

Hello my lovely blog readers!

I had promised to share this review back in 2016 but never got around to it. So sorry for the super long delay but here are the pictures of the amazing Prada Esplanade bag I got in two tone (white/navy blue combo). The bag is a counter quality replica – as you all know by now is the best grade of replica which exists out there. The bag is a mix of calf leather/saffiano leather and I think that the leather combination works well. The bag is the super sophisticated and I think it looks bets paired with a cute little black dress on a night out. Although you could totally pull it off as a day bag as well. The Esplanade is definitely a statement bag – it is not a subtle piece, but it really really stands out so if you are looking for something to give your outfit a bit of a pop or wow factor I would really suggest this Prada model. Without further ado here are pics of my bag:

Spot the Fake Louis Vuitton Veau Cachemire Soft Lockit MM! An Authentic vs. Replica Buying Guide

Chiara_Ferragni_for_Louis_Vuitton_Soft_Lockit_handbag_campaign2Chiara_Ferragni_for_Louis_Vuitton_Soft_Lockit_handbag_campaign5

With the likes of Chiara Ferragni carrying the Louis Vuitton Soft Lockit, it’s no surprise that this particular Louis Vuitton is very popular currently as a replica bag as well! I am personally a huge fan of Chiara Ferragni and love her blog The Blonde Salad where her awesome style is showcased. Unlike Ms. Ferragni who has first and free dibs on most luxury handbags (her prominence in the fashion blogger world cannot be denied!) most ladies (and gentlemen) like myself do not have such access, so sometimes a replica bag will do for me (and many others). The replica LV Soft Lockit I purchased was of very high quality and can be described as a superfake designer bag or a counter quality replica handbag. If you examine the photographs you will see that this is one bag that is virtually identical to the original of the same make by the authentic Louis Vuitton factories. The original price of the bag is over $4,000 USD on the official Louis Vuitton boutique’s ecommerce website but I purchased the handbag for only $389 USD which is a steal if you think about it! Sometimes when I see the extremely high prices on some models like the Soft Lockit I have a feeling Louis Vuitton is really overcharging, but that may just be a matter of opinion. Anyways take a look at the pictures below and let me know in the comments whether you’d go authentic or replica for this Louis Vuitton handbag!

LOUIS VUITTON Veau Cachemire Soft Lockit MM fashionphile

This is the original listing of the purse I have used for comparison in this review/article.

LOUIS VUITTON Veau Cachemire Soft Lockit MM fake vs real comparison

The handbag on the right is my replica Louis Vuitton handbag while the handbag on the left is an authentic Soft Lockit up for resale on the consignment website Fashionphile. Could you spot the fake right away or did you pause for a moment?

LOUIS VUITTON Veau Cachemire Soft Lockit MM fake vs real logo front of bag1

The logo of the replica handbag is pictured on the left while the logo stamp of the authentic is pictured on the right. The logos of both purses are well done but I have to say that if I were to judge based off this photo solely the stamp on the replica (left picture) actually looks sharper and more well done than that of the authentic purse pictured on the right.

fake vs real LOUIS VUITTON Veau Cachemire Soft Lockit MM tag inside bag

The interior tag of both handbags. Which one do you think is the tag on the fake bag? The one on the left? No that is actually the authentic Louis Vuitton handbag’s tag. The tag pictured on the right is that of the replica bag, and as you can see it has one more detail on the stamp which is the location the handbag was produce in which is France in this case.

fake vs real LOUIS VUITTON Veau Cachemire Soft Lockit MM inside the bag

The interiors of the two handbags are both suede although the picture on the left which shows the authentic handbag’s interior shows a more used suede hence why it is almost slightly pilling. My replica handbag is fairly new in comparison so the suede does not show any wear at all. The interior is smooth to the touch and actually my preferred interior type for a handbag – I usually hate the cotton lining most Louis Vuitton models have and think the suede is more of a lux feel generally.

fake vs real LOUIS VUITTON Veau Cachemire Soft Lockit MM bottom of bagThe bottom of the handbags are virtually identical and there is no honestly no visible difference between the authentic or replica handbag in this case. The four silver pegs at the bottom of the bag are awesome as they really do help prevent the handbag from getting dirty at all. If you own a designer handbag it is very likely that a pet peeve of yours will be the bottom getting dirty!

fake vs real LOUIS VUITTON Veau Cachemire Soft Lockit MM side shot bag

Lastly the back of both handbags are pictured! The back of each bag is virtually identical as well as there is nothing to differentiate between the two.

One thing I would like to note is that when you are shopping for the Soft Lockit as a replica, if you choose to do so, make sure you buy one that is a good quality replica. Most websites sell AAA handbags which are either half leather half plastic or fully plastic and it does not do any justice to the original Louis Vuitton model. The handbag I purchased is one of the most accurate Louis Vuitton replicas I have purchased yet and since it is a recent model I guess we can assume that the manufacturers are getting more and more sophisticated everyday!

Sound off in the comments below and let me know what you think of the comparison and the style of the Soft Lockit as I personally think it comes off as a love it or hate it kind of bag!

The Art of Buying a Replica Handbag

prada handbag saffiano comparison fake vs real black

An AAA replica of a Prada Saffiano double zip tote and a counter quality version. The AAA was one of the first AAA replicas I bought and boy was the quality bad!

Replica handbags are oh so alluring. The idea of saving thousands while dropping only hundreds for a perfect copy of THAT bag you just saw in THAT designer boutique is enough to make anyone drool, myself included. However you shouldn’t think it is just that simple to purchase a replica. After shopping for replica for over 8 years (began of course when I was a not so wealthy teenager) myself I have realized there is an art to it just as there is as an art to anything else. You don’t just do a quick google search for “replica handbag” and purchase on the first website that pops up when it comes to replicas since there is a lot of investigation necessary to make sure the website you want to purchase from is legit and is not a scam that will rip you off!

First of all if you are going to purchase a replica handbag there is one thing I have realized throughout the years: you must be willing to take a risk. Yes purchasing replica handbags is very much like a game of Russian roulette; you can either get lucky or you can bite the bullet! For example many of the good sellers I have found only accept payment through money orders such as Western Union and although at first this frightened me greatly since I risked basically losing all of my money, I have grown quite comfortable with the process over time – I just always make sure to vet any seller/company before I actually send my payments through to avoid being scammed. The way I personally see it however is that after a few bullets you will get lucky and find a trustworthy seller or few who you can stick with and will take care of you! At least that is how it has worked out for me, although I am always open to finding better sellers who have more precise quality and work with better materials.

Another part of the art is to be able to recognize quality! This once again does come back to the trust between yourself and the seller however there are a lot of other factors which come into play as well! The most basic thing you can do is to check what quality the seller is advertising for their bags. There are several tiers of handbag qualities when it comes to replicas which include the A grade replicas which range from disgusting bags which scream 100% fake upon first glance, to bags which may have the form down but lack the quality in terms of materials. I personally stay away from any bags labelled AAA, AAA+, AAAA etc. since they usually equate to junk.

For myself personally when I am shopping for an item whether it be replica or authentic I like to make sure I get the cream of the crop; just because you are buying a knockoff does not mean you have to buy one that screams fake. The quality of bags that I personally purchase are strictly one to one or counter quality as they are called in Asia. The counter quality bags are considered bags which are good enough to be placed on the counter at Celine, Louis Vuitton, Prada etc. so those are the handbags you should aim for if you are after a replica or knockoff! Anything less and you will be feeling queasy, that is if you have any experiences with the authentic bags.

If you have never purchased a real designer handbag before the AAA might seem like amazing quality but once you get your hands on an authentic bag you will be able to see what you are missing out on, and you’ll never be able to look at the bag you just purchased in the same way. My first time I ever got tricked into buying an AAA purse was when I shopped on Ioffer a few year ago and I purchased a Prada Saffiano. The bag was adorable to me at the time, but once I stopped by the Prada boutique to see the Saffianos in person I was heartbroken as I realized I had spent so much money on a piece of absolute junk! Luckily I found a seller later on who sells amazing Prada’s and I will post a comparison between the two handbags for everyone to get a glance at the quality in depth. Overall as you may have realized by now purchasing replicas can be very rewarding (I’d like a single person who wouldn’t like to save thousands monthly especially if they are a fashionista like myself to comment below) but you just need to make sure you know the art of buying one well!

Another quality comparison between two Celine bags I have purchased. One is an AAA while the other is a counter quality – the difference is in the details even though both look similar from afar. If you are a detail oriented person it is always better to go for the counter quality bags as you most likely like myself don’t want anyone to think your bag is fake!
